Jose A. (Apolinar) Gallegos 1931-2022,

There is an appointed time for everything under the heavens. The past several years had been the appointed time for our family to care for daddy, protecting him, nurturing him and tending to his every need.

On January 24th was his appointed time to return to his creator. After receiving the Sacraments, he peacefully surrendered his soul to the One he had worked his entire life to return to. He was the only surviving offspring of Abel Gallegos.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Loyola, his son Ralph, parents Abel Gallegos and Adelina Esquibel, four sisters Fermilia Sanchez, Bertha Pacheco, Sylvia Vigil and Mary Elsie Shields. Two brothers Dionicio Gallegos and Zenovio Medina.  He is survived by one son Eloy (Delores) and four daughters Evelyn, Rose, Nora and Lugarda. Nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. One very special person in his life is his (God sent) caregiver, Jerome Fernandez. Daddy was so blessed to have Jerome at his side for several hours a day as his caregiver and companion. He is survived by his two sisters Helen Medina and Mary Lopez and one sister-in-law Belinda Medina, four brothers Jackie Medina (Helen), Howard Medina, Manual Medina (Darlene) and Abraham Medina (Nancy) In addition there are many nieces, nephews, godsons and goddaughters, and many, many friends.

Serving the family as pall bearers will be Samuel Gallegos, Justin Lopez, Lawrence Velarde, Andie Sanchez, Joseph Mondragon and Marvin Valdez.

Services will be Rosary Thursday February 10, 2022 at 11:00 am with Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 pm at San Antonio de Padua in Penasco with interment at the Llano San Juan Morada.  Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.  To share a memory, please visit our website at www.riverafuneralhome.com
