JOSE GREGORIO SALAZAR – 67; A lifelong resident of Medanales, New Mexico passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005, following a sudden illness. He married Onofre Abeyta on January 24, 1959, in Abiquiu, New Mexico. In February 2003 he retired from the City of Espanola after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Salazar; parents, Gregorio and Josefita Salazar; sister, Prescilina Garcia; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jose Leon and Bernardita Abeyta. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Onofre Salazar; two sons, Gregory Salazar of the home; and Dennis Salazar and Evelyn Maruska of Velarde; one daughter, Pita Salazar and Lorenzo Quintana; two granddaughters, Stephanie Salazar of Espanola; and Camila Salazar and fiancé Randy Garcia of Espanola; one grandson, Dennis Peter Salazar of Espanola two step-granddaughters Kristine and Jimmy Moya of Los Cruces, New Mexico and Jackie and Spencer Smith of Tennessee; a niece who was like a daughter, Simme Reyes of Rio Chama; two sisters, Eufemia Maestas and husband Santiago and Angie Maestas all of Chile; an aunt, Ignacita Martinez of Espanola. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Sister Bernardita Abeyta of Espanola, Alice Lopez of Abiquiu, Josie and husband Mike Trujillo of Espanola, Margaret Serna of Phoenix, Cleo and husband Dan Calistro of Flagstaff, Carlos Abeyta and wife Conchia of Miami, AZ; nieces and nephews, Lupe and Laura Garcia, Noberto and Liz Garcia all of Rio Chama, Lionel Roy Maestas of Chile, Elmo and Vicky Maestas, James and Annie Maestas of Albuquerque, Joseph and Veronica Maestas of Chamita, Lillian and Larry Martinez of Chile, Dollie and Paul Cioe of California, Geronimo "Jerry" and Christina Garcia of California, Delvin and Connie Lopez of Phoenix, AZ and many other nieces and nephews. Also surviving him are very close cousins, Maxine Tena of Santa Fe, Georgia Serrano, Cordila Coronado both of Medanales, Donna Gomez of Santa Fe, Sabinita Trujillo of Tierra Amarilla and many other cousins and other relatives and numerous friends. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and a wake service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2005, at Block-Salazar Mortuary. On Tuesday, September 13, 2005 a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the San Antonio Church in Medanales. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at the San Antonio Church in Medanales. Interment will follow at the San Antonio Cemetery. Assisting as pallbearers will be; Abe Baldonado, Noberto Garcia, Leonel Roy Maestas, Joey Lopez, Delvin Lopez and Alfonso Martinez. Named as honorary pallbearers are; Camila and Stephanie Salazar, Dennis Peter Salazar, Randy Garcia, Kristine Moya and Jackie Smith.
