Jose Mares

Jose Luciano (Joe) Mares, 58, passed away on December 14, 2019.  He  was born to Esequiel and Polly Mares in Taos, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Esequiel and Polly and several other family members. He is survived by his son, Joey Mares, siblings, Tom (Edna), LeRoy (Mae), Janie (David), Jerry, Gilbert (Antonia), Manuel (Susan), Frances (Rod), Virginia (Peter), special niece, Shona Bond (Gordon), numerous nieces and nephews that he enjoyed hanging out with and  many other relatives and friends.

Joe was a well-known and successful paint and body man. He worked on many award-winning classic vehicles, along with his brother Tom. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed being in the mountains, camping, being on the ATV and snowmobiling and looking for deer sheds. He enjoyed all these activities with his brothers and his friends. He looked forward to these outings on the weekends or whenever he could get there! Joe enjoyed getting enchiladas, beans, tortillas, chili and sopapillas from his sisters and his sisters-in-law. He could never have enough enchiladas. Anyone who knew Joe knew he was a man of few words, but also knew when not to question his ability on whatever he was working on. Joe was a simple man with a big heart!

Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11 AM at Rivera Chapel in Taos.  Following this memorial Joe will be interred at the Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Canon.
