Jose (Joe) Miguel Casias, passed on to his eternal life and home the early evening of April 25, 2018.
He was born March 24, 1927 to Aurelia H. and Miguel L. Casias in the Pueblo of San Juan.
In his teens and twenties, Joe was a radio and traveling musician. He lived a life of adventure, eager to see new things, and meet new people. He shared his stories with those who took time to listen to this calm, unassuming man. As a husband and father, he had many talents and took on many roles – a mechanic, machinist, builder and weaver. He worked for the State of New Mexico and Pueblo of Santa Clara.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Leonardita Elizabeth (Betty) Romero, his parents, infant brother and younger brother Eddie Casias.
Joe and Betty had five children - Mitchel, Elmer, Lester (Annette), Louella and Jonathan (Melissa). He taught his family dignity, faith, hope, and respect for others through the way he lived.
In addition to his children, Joe leaves behind his brothers Ramon (Cordi), Naldo, Johnny (Ellie), Augustine (Charlotte), Tony (Zoe) and David - sisters Peggy (Roberto Romero), Lucy (Anthony Moya). Joe was grateful for his Grandchildren - Anthony and Matthew (Natalia) Martinez, Joseph (Angie) Casias, Elizabeth Young and his Great Grandchildren - Tony, Lexi and Xavier Martinez, Joseph, Naomi and Andrew Casias.
He will be remembered for being kind, reliable, spiritual, caring, true, and real. No earthly challenge was too great with the Lord by his side. When his body tired and his mind traveled, the finest Angels led his spirit to shed his body. Starting this final journey home was his greatest desire. His last days were spent resting while watching them prepare for his arrival.
A strong heart, full of faith and spirit carried him far. At 91, he took in every last breath of life that God gave him. His passing was one of peace with twinkling eyes and a smile for what lay ahead.
Lester and Jonathan Casias wish to thank the Ambercare Family for their loving nursing care, spiritual guidance, compassion and overall friendship towards them and their father the past 13 months.
