Joseph (Joe) A. Lovato, 40, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and formerly of Ohkay Owingeh, NM, passed away on January 26, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Delfin Lovato, Carmen and Edward T. Sanchez, uncles, Edward T. Sanchez, Jr. and Daniel Sanchez, great – grandparents; Bonifacio Maestas, Antonio and Louisa Sanchez, and Julian and Marie Lovato, and Hilario and Avelina Polanco.
Joseph was born in Los Alamos, New Mexico and raised in Ohkay Owingeh, New Mexico. He graduated from Santa Fe Indian School and the University of New Mexico receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He truly enjoyed coaching and watching his children participate in soccer, club volleyball, t – ball, choir, and piano. Joe, raised in northern New Mexico, had always been passionate about business. After earning his business accounting degree from the University of New Mexico, he was ready to embark on a new adventure. It was around this time that he met Nam, and the two quickly fell in love. They married and began building a life together, filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their four children. Over the past 15+ years, Nam and Joseph combined their talents and passions to create something truly special together. They launched five successful Thai restaurants across New Mexico. Truly a testament to their hard work, dedication, and love for each other.
He is survived by his wife, Nam, children Asia, Arianna, Adrian, and Ashton Lovato, parents, Diana and Ron Lovato, brothers, Delfinio (Mariah) Lovato, Joshua Lovato, and Santiago Lovato, Grandmother, Mary Lovato, Zelda and Louie Jaramillo (La Mesilla), Padrinos, Kathy and Steve Gomez (La Puebla), Theresa and Lupe Romero (Chimayo), Cindy and Ken Farmer, Padrino, (Albuquerque), Jim and Noi Chaikaew, (Rio Rancho), niece Alexis Lovato and nephew Julian Lovato. He is also survived by his cousins, Louis (Felicia), Manuel, Marcella (Alex), and Christina Jaramillo, Andrea and Felipe Gomez, Aaron, Matthew, and Amanda Romero, and Mary Farmer, and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited Tuesday, January 28, 2025, 7:00 pm, San Juan Bautista Catholic Church, Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. A mass of Christian burial, Wednesday, January 29, 10:30 AM, San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. Interment will take place following the mass at Ohkay Owingeh cemetery.
Pallbearers: Delfinio Lovato, Joshua Lovato, Manuel Jaramillo, Steve Gomez, Aaron Romero, and Jason Abeyta. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Jaramillo, Jr., Andrea and Felipe Gomez, and Matthew and Amanda Romero.
