He was born on June 11, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM and was a resident of Glorieta, NM and Albuquerque, NM.

His legacy continues through six grandchildren, each a testament to his pride and joy. Janay Armijo, Isabelle Rodriguez-Armijo, Jacob Armijo, Johnny Ray Armijo II, Jude Armijo, and Jiovanni Armijo. Gene was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Gene's caring and genuine nature brightened the lives of those around him, serving as a constant source of love and support. His vibrant spirit brought joy and warmth into the room. A devoted grandfather, he could be counted on being the loudest fan at his grandkids' sporting events and performances. Gene prioritized connecting with his family members, regularly engaging in daily prayer and phone calls to stay close to them. Beyond family bonds, Gene's passions included classic cars and American history, the Civil War.  Gene's craftsmanship shone through in his personalized wooden arrows, each crafted with care and given as special gifts. Music was his solace, with NM Spanish music, Elvis, and Johnny Cash holding a special place in his heart. His absence leaves a void in the lives of many, yet his spirit will endure eternally, forever cherished in our hearts
