Joseph C. Lujan, 83, of Espanola passed away on September 1, 2012. He was born on February 5, 1929 to Maria Teofila and Pedro Lujan and married Rebecca Lujan on September 1, 1956 in Mesilla, NM.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Maria Teofila Lujan, and sons, Paul and Phillip Lujan, sister Elizabeth Sanderson and brother Edward Lujan. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Lujan of Espanola, NM; daughter Peggy Tinder, husband Brad, sons Kyle and Evan of Irvine, CA; son, Peter Lujan, wife Mary, daughters Kaira and Tristen of Santa Fe, NM; daughter Pamela Lujan, son Joseph of Las Cruces, NM; and son Patrick Lujan, wife Bertha, son Chandler of Las Cruces, NM., as well as sister Esther Vigil and husband Joe of Albuquerque.
Joseph served in the United States Air Force. He graduated from New Mexico
A&M/NMSU in 1958, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering. Joseph also served in the NM State Mounted Patrol, was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and was a La Mesilla Volunteer Firefighter.
A rosary was recited on September 6, 2012 in the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel in Espanola, NM. A funeral Mass was celebrated on September 7, 2012 at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada. A graveside service followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Family & friends gathered at The Knights of Columbus in Arroyo Seco after the graveside service.
