Joseph L. Uher, 90, of Los Alamos passed away gently surrounded by family at his home on Sunday March 13, 2022.
Joseph was a US Navy Veteran, serving in the 1950’s as a First Class Machinist Mate. He went on to have careers at both Brookhaven National Laboratory and Los Alamos National Laboratory, retiring as a mechanical technician.
He was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle, and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus in Pueblo West, Colorado. Together with his wife, Joseph also enjoyed being members of the Edison Region Car Club in Ft Meyers, FL, and the Texas region of AACA, AMICA, the Southern Colorado “A’s”, as well as the Rocky Mountain Chapter and Pikes Peak Chapter of the Theatre Organ Society. As an additional hobby, Joseph had a passion for working with wood.
Joseph was married to the love of his life, Barbara Lehecka, in the spring on 1956 in Bohemia, New York. They went on to have four beautiful children; Kenneth (Jean), Jane (Scott Volz), Linda and Thomas (Jaime). The two were blessed with five grandchildren; Jennifer, Tina, Michael, Amy, and Joseph, and have lived to see 7 great grandchildren so far. Amongst the grieving hearts Mr. Uher leaves behind are also many friends and family from New York to New Mexico, and all places in between.
Please join the family in prayer of The Rosary at 7 pm on Sunday, March 27th, 2022 at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, NM. Mass will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10 am, followed by interment at the Guaje Pines Cemetery Columbarium AT 11:00 a.m. The family welcomes smiles and laughter to be shared as it is their fondest memory of Joseph.
