Jose Eliu Roybal - Age 83, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 in Albuquerque surrounded by his wife and loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abran and Eliza Roybal, brothers Jose S. Roybal, Grand Junction, CO, and Juan Roybal, Santa Fe, NM, granddaughter Amanda Roybal, mother and father-in-laws, Narbor and Rosanna Cortez.
He was a life long resident of Espanola. He retired from the Zia Company in 1986 after 40 years of service. When his health was better he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling. As his health declined he enjoyed having lunch with many friends at the Santa Cruz Senior Center, watching his favorite programs on TV, spoiling his wife, family and especially his grandkids. He was a humble man whose greatest joy was his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Viola Roybal; his children: Robert Roybal (Margo), Gary Roybal (Anita), Mary Garcia (Steven), Jo Anne Roybal (Barry), Cecilia Roybal (Ron); brother, Jose "Red" Roybal (Susie); grandchildren: Jared, Francisco, Monica, Rachel, Yvette, Matthew, Rebecca, Stephen, Victoria, Deidre; great grandson, Nicholas and many other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be: Ronald C. Roybal, Steven S. Garcia, Stephen T. Garcia, Francisco A. Roybal, Jared R. Roybal and Barry H. Bailey.
A rosary for the repose of the soul of Jose Eliu Roybal will be recited on Monday, April 28. 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Steven S. Garcia, Stephen T. Garcia, Francisco A. Roybal, Jared R. Roybal and Barry H. Bailey.
