Jose Bernie Salazar, 90, of Ranchos de Taos passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 14, 2021. Jose was a rancher and a miner in his younger years. He retired from Kachina Lodge in 1995. He went on to driving tow trucks till 2008. He loved to be outdoors and working around the house. He will be greatly missed by everyone that he knew. He was a loving dad, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donaciano and Maria Gutierrez, raised by Jose and Eufemia Salazar, brothers Ernesto, John, and Alex Gutierrez, sisters Lucy Enciso, brother in law, Ernesto Martinez, wife’s, Margarita, Dora, and Clara Salazar, sons, Robert and Michael Salazar, nephew, Rudy Struck. He is survived by sisters, Lupe Struck (Art), Bertha Smith (Walter), Frances Martinez, brother, Fred Gutierrez (Nancy), sister in law, Angie and Maggie Gutierrez, sons, Ralph Salazar (Margret), Bernie Jr. Salazar (Charleen), Oide Salazar, Scott Salazar, and Harvey Salazar, daughters, Esther Garcia (Leroy), and Caroline Martinez (Pat), 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and Godchild, Jorge Rascon. He helped raised grandchildren, Shane, Isaiah, Dylan, Sammy, and Alyanah Martinez.
Pallbearers; Eloy, John, Shane, Isaiah, Frankie Jr., Dylan, Sammy, Don, and Jorge. Honorary pallbearers; Alyanah and Zayden.
Services will be held on Friday September 24, 2021. Rosary mass at St. Francis church at 9:00 A.M. following funeral mass at 10:00 A.M with burial to follow at Jesus Nazareno Cemetery.
