John B. Valdez (aka JB), a longtime resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away on June 22, 2020, two days short of his 93rd birthday. John served our country in the US Navy during World War II, then he served as a police officer for the Santa Fe Police Department for 26 years before retiring. John was preceded in death by his parents Alberto and Matilda Valdez, brothers Antonio Valdez and Manuel Valdez, and Sister Irene Valdez. He is survived by his daughter Linda and her husband Paul Ott and their daughter Teresa, by daughter Pamela Heidel and her son Jason and daughter Melissa, by son Mark Valdez and his daughter Amber and son Anthony, by daughter Joann Tapia and husband Vince Sciarraba and their children Mark, Star, and Kyle, by his daughter Beverly Vigil and her son Gary D and daughter Amanda, by son John E. Valdez and his daughter Desirae and sons John Jr. and James, and by his sister Della Sandoval and brother Robert F. Valdez. John was also a longtime parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he served dutifully as an usher. He loved Father Nathan, his Church, and all the parishioners that he served, like family. He leaves us with unforgettable and loving memories until we meet again in heaven.
Viewing will be held on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at the Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light located at 417 E Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
The Most Holy Rosary will be recited also on Monday, July 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at 11 a.m. at St John's the Baptist Catholic Church located at 1301 Osage Ave, Santa Fe, NM.
