Juan D. Archuleta

December 4, 1917 — April 17, 2009

JUAN D. ARCHULETA, age 91, our beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with our Lord-surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Chamita, a World War II Veteran of The United States Army, a former member of The Jemez Mountain Board of Trustees, a member of the Acequia De Chamita, The Chamita Water Association, an active parishoner of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, and especially enjoyed tending to his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents Atanacio and Emilia Archuleta, brothers Julian Archuleta and Emilio Archuleta, sister Lugarda Maestas and son in law Leonard Hirkala. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Clora Archuleta, and dear children; Alma Hirkala of Las Vegas, NV., John Archuleta and wife Mary of Albuquerque, Cathy Guillen and husband Joe of Espanola, Martha Roybal and husband Orlando of Espanola, and Jeanne Archuleta of Albuquerque, grandchildren; Brina Ceballes and husband Jason, Ana Archuleta, Carlos, Chris and Katrina Guillen, Marcos and Jaymie Roybal, sisters Margarita Salazar of Chamita, Polly Barnhart and husband Jack of Anderson, CA., Juanita Casados and husband Pete of of El Guique, and brother Tomas Archuleta and wife Mela of Chamita, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and many friends. Recitation of the rosary will be on Monday April 20th at 7:30 pm at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church at Ohkay Owingeh, with the Mass of Christian Burial being offered on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. also at the same church. Interment with military honors will follow at The Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. with the following serving as pallbearers: Joe, Carlos and Christopher Guillen, Orlando and Marcos Roybal, and Rob Smilow. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jason Ceballes, Ameenah Fox, Orlando and Lucy Serna, Parker and Florida Wells, Joe and Connie Branch, Charles Chucky Vigil, David Salazar of Chamita, Raymond and Lourdes Gallegos, Martin Martinez, Eloy Garcia and Alex Salazar and Richard Salazar.
