Juan Dominguez

May 17, 1935 — September 15, 2021

Juan Jose  (known as J.J.) of Chamisal, passed away peacefully on 09/15/2021. He was a kindhearted Christian man, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey and his parents, Juan Jose and Josefa.

He attended two Presbyterian schools, Allison-James Middle School and Menaul High School. A few years after his graduation he married the love of his life, Dora, and they moved to Los Angeles, CA. He worked for Northrop (an aerospace company) for three years.

In 1960 he returned to NM with his family to run his father's ranch. He also was a school bus contractor and employed full time for the U.S. Forest Service. He had many jobs during his lengthy career with the USFS. Among them were: ski patrolman, wilderness patrolman in the summertime and foreman for the Hotshot Fire Crew. Because of his outstanding work ethic he was given the honor of having a trail in the Pecos Wilderness named after him. Upon his retirement, he continued to work on his ranch and traveled. He visited many states in the US and toured a few countries in Europe (England, Germany, France and Spain).

J.J. is survived by his wife, Dora; Ernesto Lovato (whom he considered his eldest son); four children: Darlene, Valerie, Karen and Jacqueline; seven grand children: Adam, Eric, Ocean, Rachel, Alex, Jenna and John; two great grandchildren: Hunter and Anaya; two sisters: Tona and Rosa and his brother, Jerry.

The celebration of life service and funeral will take place, privately, on his ranch in Chamisal.

The family of Juan Jose Dominguez II has entrusted their loved one to Rivera Funeral Home of Espanola.
