JUANITA DELGADO MORALESJuanita Delgado Morales passed away gently and peacefully at the age of 96 on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, while living at home with her daughter's family in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Juanita was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, in the summer of 1927. She was the eighth child of 13 children born to Teodoro Delgado and Josefa Betancourt, first generation Puerto Ricans. Her grandparents migrated from the Canary Islands to the Spanish colony of Puerto Rico in the early 1800s. She married the love of her life, Pedro Morales Hernandez, on Feb 9, 1946. They had four children, Carmen, Pedro, Yvette, and Ramon, all born and baptized in Old San Juan. They also loved and raised Maria Virginia, a daughter of the heart and forever family. They eventually left the island in 1959 for Brooklyn, NY, where Juanita's parents and siblings had settled. The family remained close, and enjoyed many memorable occasions together, especially during holidays. They valued their Puerto Rican heritage, excelled in education, work ethics, loyalty to faith and country, with many family members serving in every U.S. military conflict from the island and the mainland. Juanita will forever be remembered for her joyful and loving spirit, her unwavering faith, her beautiful smile, and unique ability to make all feel welcomed and loved. She lived a full and wonderful life surrounded by family and friends whom she cherished and prayed for daily. Her memorial Mass will be at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Brooklyn, NY, celebrated by her beloved nephew Rev. Manuel Rodriguez Delgado. On December 7, 2023 at 10:00am. She will be buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY with her husband and grandson. Thanks to Enchanted Sky and Del Corazon for their care. Especially Meaghan and Zoe. We are forever grateful to these caregivers, Silvia, Elizabeth and Respite providers Cathy and Darlene, who was with her at the very end.
