Juan Jose “Joe” Marquez-April 5, 1926 – July 29, 2022

Juan was born on April 5, 1926 in Palma, NM. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. Juan is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Connie B. Marquez; his birth parents Desiderio and Isabela (Garcia) Marquez, Papá Manuel and Mamá Eugenia (Marquez) Romero, step-mom Luicita Marquez; his brothers Melcor Marquez, Donicio, Liberato, Agapito, Loretto, Reyes and Florian Romero; half-brothers Nick, Mike, Tony and Geraldo Marquez; his half-sisters Rufina Gonzales, Estefanita Marquez, Placida Vissaraga, Frances, Isabelita, Eduvigen and Valeria Tapia, Carmen Jimenez; and son-in-law Tico Guerra. He leaves behind his children Ruby Guerra, Philip (Donna), Dorothy Shepherd (Steve), Anna Marie Marquez-Varela (Florencio), Joe (Diana), Liz Chavez (Miguel), Jerry (Cindy) and Lucinda Montoya (Johnny); half-brother Max Marquez; sister Rose Koroneos; half-sisters Jane and Lupe Fonseca, Mary Barger, Hilda and Lucy Peralta; grandchildren Lorenzo, Melissa, Nichol, (Mark), Stephen (April), David, Robert, Aaron (Kelly), Damian (Audra), Claire, Anthony, Elena (Brian), Camilia (Jeff), Manuel, Zachery and Jared; great-grandchildren, Feliz, Mario, Ariana, Nicholette, Marcos, Isaiah, Julian, Ashlee, August, Elijah, Norene, Alexandra, Robert, Iyisha, Anton, Naomi, Nathan, Gabriel, Leyana, Caleb, Grayson and Analisa; great-great-grandchildren Jordan, Ayana, Julian, Alayna, Wyatt and Leo; step-grandchildren Alejandra Guerra, Kelly Shepherd, Paula and Felipe Varela; step-great-grandchildren Andre, Aurelia, Angelina and Reiana Ayers, Katelyn, Keith and Zoey Varela.

Rosary August 9, 2022 at 9:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Reception to follow at St Anne’s Parish Hall. Internment at Santa Fe National Cemetery, August 11, 2022 at 2:30 pm.
