Juan O. Ortega, 92, of Llano Largo passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Ortega was a life time member of the Morada de Llano de San Juan de Nepomuceno. He was a great violin and guitar player, he loved fishing, woodworking and his candy. He was a great teller of chistes and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Feliberto and Rosenda Ortega, brothers, Jose and Andres Ortega, sister, Dora Munoz and grandson, David Lopez. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty two years, Maria Ortega, sons, Joseph Ortega (Esther) and Sammy Ortega (Sandra), daughters, Priscilla Lopez (Orlando), Isabel Yates (John), Sharon Ortega and fiancé, Juan Dominguez, Diane Cordova (Orlando), children from a previous marriage John Ortega, Jr. (Lillian) and Dolores Pino (Leroy). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his brothers, Rudolpho Ortega (Felonis) and Ernesto Ortega, sister, Aurora Duran and many other relatives and friends.
Rosaries was recited on January 15, 2014 at Rivera Chapel in Taos and on January 16, 2014 at San Antonio de Padua Church in Penasco. Funeral Mass was held on January 17, 2014 at San Antonio de Padua Church in Penasco with interment following at the Llano de San Juan Morada Cemetery in Llano de Juan.
