Karen Gallegos

Karen Gallegos was born on September 17, 1958 in Monte Vista Colorado to Abe and Virginia Torres. Karen grew up in Colorado until she moved to Santa Fe New Mexico in 1987. Karen was able to spend her time raising her three children until she started her career with New Mexico Department of Transportation where she was able to work her way up to a Business Operation Specialist with the General Services Bureau. Throughout her career she created many friendships and many memories that will last a lifetime. Karen retired from the Department of Transportation after 30 years of service in 2019. Karen was a feisty lady who enjoyed joking around and making people laugh. Karen also had a very big heart especially when it came to her children and grandchildren. After retiring she enjoyed the simple things in life like waking up when she wanted and making herself a cup of coffee. She would spend her days watching her westerns and spending time with her grandchildren which she cherished the most and family and friends. Karen will be greatly missed by many, may she rest in peace our Angel of a Mother. 

She  is preceded in death by her parents Abe and Virginia Torres, Max and Genevieve Gallegos. She is survived by her Children Dominic Gallegos (Marlene, Maricia, Dominic Jr) Derek Gallegos, Desiree Gallegos (Hailey and Emma) And numerous family members and friends. 

A Rosary will take place on  Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at The Immaculate Conception Parish, 811 6th Street, Las Vegas, NM at 9:00am with  Funeral Mass to follow at 9:30am.
