Karen D. Miller, 72, was born in New Orleans, reared in southern California and earned her MA from University of Redlands in 1974.
Her career in social services focused on rehabilitation counseling with people who had multiple barriers to employment.
Karen is survived by Connie Marks, her wife of 29 years, her brother Harry and sister Beth, and by dear friends Frankie and Joy. Karen had many other wonderful family and friends with whom she shared her life’s journey.
Karen was a reader with broad interests, lover of classical music and supporter of the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble (SFWE.org), Reiki master, horse rider, dog lover and spiritual seeker. Retired in Santa Fe with Connie and little dog Mikey, Karen volunteered with the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding (NMCTR.org) and assisted individuals with disabilities to achieve ease of movement through horse back riding.
A memorial service for Karen will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe, at 11 AM on Saturday, Oct. 22. The church is located at 208 Grant Street.
