Kathy Steck

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Erven Steck, 63, of Los Alamos, NM. Kathy was born May 10th, 1958 in South Dakota and was welcomed into the arms of our lord peacefully on May 24th, 2021 in Los Alamos, NM.

Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, daughter, and friend. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Terrance; her parents, Lawrence Erven and Patricia Flaherty Erven; and her siblings Sally, Bobby, and Terry. She is survived by her son Jered, his wife, Kiersten, and their two children Ethan (10) and Ainsley (8); her brothers and sister Danny, Johnny, Ricky, Eddy, Billy, Tommy and Peggy; as well as her very loved many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Kathy will be remembered fondly for her many lifetime contributions to the Los Alamos community as well as her caring and loving charisma that she displayed throughout her life to friends, family, work clients and strangers.  

Kathy worked many careers locally including several positions at LANB, providing lunches to school children and working for Los Alamos Public Schools. Ultimately, Kathy climbed the ladder from employee to successful owner of Kathy Steck Farmers Insurance of Los Alamos, NM. Kathy was also very involved with the Ladies Auxiliary VFW for years.

Services for Kathy will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Los Alamos, NM on Thursday, June 3rd at 2:00 PM. All attendees are welcome to an informal reception at the VFW immediately following services.
