Kathy Varela

Kathy A. Varela, was called home to be with her heavenly Father on July 6, 2023. Katha A. Varela passed away in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Kathy was born to Edwardo Baca and Lala O. Baca in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After graduation from Pecos High School, she was employed by The State Of New Mexico State Retirement Division, Santa Fe New Mexico. She married Alfred Ortega, and from this union, she had two sons: Elvin A. Ortega and Steven M. Ortega. After her divorce from Alfred, she married Wayne M. Varela.

Kathy is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Varela, both of her parents; Edwardo and Lala O. Baca, and her brother Paul Baca.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Elvin A. Ortega and Steven M. Ortega. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Tony L. (Annabelle) Baca; Ed Baca (Irene Neuman; Carmen (Curtis) Miller; Tom Baca (Rosella); Esther Baca; Carla (Herman) Rodriguez; Judy Baca; and Lillian Baca. She had numerous nephews and nieces. She was a dedicated mother to her sons and always there for family & friends. She touched the hearts of all who crossed her path. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
