Kerry Melton

Kerry Melton passed away on December 16, 2021. Kerry was born in Chicago , Ill on December 28, 1957. She is preceded in death by her parents Sara & Mark Melton, her dogs Dana, Brujita, and Tink. She is survived by her sisters Gale Walker Melton (Erik) of San Francisco, CA and Mara Melton of Las Vegas, NM, her nephews Matthew Melton, Christopher Gaulding, and William Walker, her great nephew Devon Melton, her great niece Chloe Gaulding, her oldest and dearest friends Stephen Vincent Houser, Edward Archuleta, Sean McKinney, and far too many more to mention.

Kerry loved dogs, babies, rocks, and bagpipe music.

She was professionally trained in clothing design, pattern making, and costume design. She created costumes for both the San Francisco and the Santa Fe Opera and the Greer Garson Theater in Santa Fe. In the 1980’s she received a marvelous review in a San Francisco newspaper for her costume designs. Kerry had many different jobs but mostly worked as a Legal Assistant (she learned to type listening to the William Tell Overture, thus her speed was amazingly fast). A little-known fact, she was Santa Fe’s first Cab Driver when the Taxies came back in about 1981 and drove a little green VW Rabbit around picking up fairs. Kerry attended the Maharishi International University in Iowa.

Kerry loved to cook, she especially loved to entertain and have fabulous dinner parties for her friends sparing no details, except the dishes, she needed a professional staff to clean the kitchen afterwards.

Kerry loved to read and was a very talented artist, but most of all she was incredibly smart with a quick wit, and in the Melton Family tradition, a character that will not soon be forgotten but will live long in the hearts of all of us. She was known and loved by many and would do most anything for anyone, she will be remembered as an overly generous person.
