Larry Anthony Martinez of La Loma passed unexpectedly on February 7, 2025, at the age of 54.
Larry was born in July of 1970 to Larry Martinez Sr. and Gloria Trujillo in Los Angeles, California. Larry eventually moved to New Mexico with his parents. He attended elementary, middle and High School in Taos, New Mexico. He graduated from Taos High School in 1988. After much thought, he decided to stay in Taos. He
Larry had various jobs in Taos. He worked at Kachina Lodge, Casa Benavidez with Tom and Barbara McCarthy, Pro Speed Oil and Lube and with the Taos News selling the newspaper on Thursdays.
He was well known for his love of books. He was an avid reader and seemed to read anything he could get his hands on. He read books, newspapers, magazines and anything that had a script. He kept up with local and world news. He had a knowledge of many sports and kept up with statistics, player info and biographical information. He enjoyed football and was well known for his love for the Vikings football team.
He loved and adored his two cats, Babe and Shrodie, who will miss him forever.
He is survived by his parents Gloria Jean Trujillo and Larry F. Martinez. Uncle Larry Trujillo (Bette) and Jose A. Trujillo, Aunts Lillian Trujillo, and Romaine Martinez. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Amadeo J. and Josie Inez Trujillo, Luz and Senieda Martinez. Special family friend Carol Minton, Aunt Carmen Bailon, Uncles, Roger Trujillo, Luis Martinez, Luz Martinez Jr. (Emira), Andy Martinez (Vicky), and Marqarito Martinez, and First Cousin, Lucia Trujillo.
A public viewing will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 3 pm at Rivera Chapel. A rosary will be held at 9:00 am on February 27, 2025, with a mass of internment to follow at 10:00am. Both the rosary and the mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Taos, New Mexico.
