Larry G. Salazar, aged 62, a lifelong resident of El Guache, NM, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. Larry was born on August 2, 1962, to Frances Salazar (Sanchez) and Jose G. Salazar. Larry graduated from Espanola Valley High School (1981) and completed the apprenticeship program with UA Local 412 Union. From a young age, Larry worked with his father and mother on their farm to raise and breed livestock, sheep and chickens. It is in his upbringing that he developed a deep love of the outdoors, manual labor and all animals. Larry belonged to the UA Local 412 Union and the Labor Union. He worked hard for over 40 years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, as a laborer, Pipe Fitter and a Facility Supervisor where he made many lifelong friends. He was a jack of all trades and had two businesses. His generosity and kindness showed no limitations as he was always willing to help his friends and family, regardless of his circumstances, and was always willing to take in another animal in need.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time working on his ranch. His passion in life was his cows. Some of his favorite pastimes were riding his Harley Davidson and driving one of his semis to haul logs. He loved to travel and some of his favorite vacations were to Florida, South Padre Island, Las Vegas, Nevada, California, Washington, DC, and Colorado. He especially enjoyed frequent family summer vacations to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where he enjoyed socializing and fishing. Other memorable vacations were boating and fishing at Eagle Nest Lake and Navajo Dam with family and friends.
Larry is preceded to heaven by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his father, Jose G. Salazar. He is survived by his wife and best friend of more than 33 years, Theresa Salazar; his mother, Frances Salazar; and his sister Corrine (Joe) Martinez. Larry leaves behind two children from a previous marriage, Lorenzo and Victoria Salazar (Brandon); and his two stepchildren, Adrian (Stacy) and Roxanne Lucero. He is also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Kaden Anderson, Brayden Anderson, Brody Anderson and Marissa Lucero. In laws Carlos (Rosina) Vigil, brother-in-law Alex Vigil, sister-in-law Lucille (Danny) Atencio. Special cousin, Joseph Salazar and special friends, Johnny Trujillo, Patrick Lujan and Louis Hernandez. He is also survived by many dear family members and dear friends that he has made throughout his lifetime who he loved. Larry will be missed more than words can say, but his memory will live on forever.
