Larry A. Goldman, age 75 of Santa Fe, NM passed away Jan. 24, 2022. Larry was born in New York City on Nov. 6, 1946 to Robert Goldman and his wife Sophie Weiss Goldman.
Larry was a true and lifelong New Yorker until just a few years ago. He graduated from The High School of Art and Design, graduated from Hunter College, and studied law at Brooklyn College. He had a long career in the financial industry including positions with Rothschild Investments and then Societe Generale Bank. At SG he was an executive assistant to the director of several financial arms of the company responsible for handling large financial deals first in the sports world (stadia, basketball teams, baseball, etc.) and later in the movie industry. After the latter was closed down in the 08 financial crisis he was laid off for a year before being one of the few to be rehired by SG. He and his spouse, Garry Warren, retired and moved to Santa Fe in 2018.
Larry was passionate and dedicated to whatever project or job he decided upon. He served on the BOD of the Co-op he owned in Manhattan, he dedicated a lot of service to AA and was very proud of his 34 years of sobriety. Around the time of his retirement, after almost 2 years of doctors’ visits, Larry was diagnosed with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy) a degenerative neurological disease that affects many body organs. He made a valiant effort, even surviving surgery last October. With the help of many caregivers and friends, he was able to enjoy his last months at home and made marked progress, surprising all around him. He died suddenly, at home. His spirit was willing but his body couldn’t pull it off. He may be most remembered for his absolutely glorious smile! He took a little piece of our hearts.
Surviving Larry is his spouse Garry Warren, his sister-in-law Elaine Goldman and partner Ben Jarvis, his nieces Tanya (Billie), Mandy, Samantha, Danielle, many great nieces, and nephews. And many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Larry’s memory to help others living with MSA. Gifts can be directed to the Multiple System Atrophy Coalition: (https://www.multiplesystematrophy.org)
