Laurence Lee Chase passed away at his home in Taos after a long illness on July 24, 2016. He was born in Taos where he grew up and graduated from Taos High School in 1961. He joined the United States Army in October, 1964 serving in German with NATO until his discharge in October, 1966. He worked at Moly Mine in Questa until 1974, then opened his own automotive shop until he retired in 2006. Laurence’s hobby was drag racing, which he and the family participated in for over twenty years. He was a member of the Taos Volunteer Fire Department, receiving his gold badge after fifteen years of service in July, 2007. He and his son Kelley participated in the Multiple Sclerosis 150 Bike Rides from 1990 through 2003.
He is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Ora Chase, sons Christopher Kelly and Kelley Allen Chase; brother Clifford Chase and sister Sandra Loescher and his father in law Jack L. Anderson. He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn, daughter Victoria Grasmick (Brian) , daughter in law Elke Meeus, mother in law Helen Anderson, grandchildren Daphne and John Grasmick and Kyle and Alesia Chase, sister Donna Adams many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial service was held on August 8, 2016 at the Taos Church of Latter Day Saints with interment following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Taos Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.
