Lena Baca

LENA G. BACA, 96, our beloved family matriarch has gone to be with the Lord after a brief illness. Our family was blessed with the time God gave us in making family memories which we will treasure forever. Lena was preceded in death by her father Transito Gutierrez, mother Emilia Gutierrez, Sisters Flora Montano, Lupe Sandoval, Rita Zamora, Marcella Barela and brother Johnny Gutierrez, husband Thomas J. Baca, son Dennis Baca and grandson Timothy Baca. Lena was survived by her children Edmund Baca, Emily Baca, Eleanor Baca, John Baca, Geraldine Garduno, Camille Martinez (Dwayne), Thomas Baca (Jamie), Joshua Baca (Meagan). 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Gladiz Ortega-Lopez for her dedication, devotion, compassion, and loving care over the last four years. Lena worked for the State of New Mexico for 35 years. After retiring Lena cared for many of her grandchildren and numerous other children, many of whom still call her grandma. She was a parishioner at San Isidro Parish and served as Mayordomo and Eucharistic Minister along with her husband Thomas Baca. Lena was secretary for many years of the Catholic Daughters of America. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday March 1st, 2023, at 7 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo, N.M.  Thursday March 2nd, 2023, in Santa Fe, NM a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at San Isidro Parish Hall. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
