Leonardo Lalo Romero, 84, passed away on September 26, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Lalo was born in Ranchos de Taos to Clorinda V. and Jose E. Romero. He served in the United States Army and was a combat veteran during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Moly Corp. molybdenum mines in Questa. He was a lifelong Parciante as well as a Mayordomo of the Francisco Martinez Ditch. He was an active member of the Ranchos Presbyterian Church. He served as an Elder of the Church, he was on the Descanso Cemetery Committee, and was involved in many church activities.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose E. and Clorinda V. Romero, his siblings, Chemo, John, Mary, Lillie, Archie, Consuelo, and Jerry (infant brother), his daughter Edna Romero, and his grandsons, Jeremy and Matthew Vigil. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bertha Romero; his children, Joyce (Henry) Vigil, Michael Romero, Edith Romero, Suzanne (Michael) Valerio, Robert (Eileen) Romero, David (Christa) Romero, and Amy (Ramon) Pacheco; 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, special cousins and friends, Gilbert Gili and Betty Vigil, and many other relatives and friends.
Services were held September 30, 2014 at Rivera Chapel.
Evening service was held on September 30, 2014 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service was held on October 01, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Taos. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
