Cristobal LeRoy Ortiz resident of Chimayo, New Mexico passed away after a sudden illness early Saturday, April 30, 2022 surrounded by his family and his beloved wife of 62 years.
LeRoy was an employee of the State of New Mexico for over 25 years, and retired at the age of 49, after retirement he went on his own and did carpentry work and remodeling homes. He was proud of all he did.
LeRoy is survived by his wife Lita M. Ortiz his two sons Anthony Ortiz and Andrew Ortiz LeRoy was very proud of his five grand children and great grand children, Mark Anthony Ortiz wife Antoinette and there beautiful daughter Relena, grandson, Thomas and his beautiful daughter Trinity: Trinity’s mother Maricela, and grand-daughter Sherrie Morales and her two beautiful children Nova and Dante, great grand fathers favorite great grand son, Santiana Ortiz of Chimayo and Adrianna Ortiz from Colorado Springs, Prescilla Dubois mother of the Grand kids, loved by Mr. and Mrs.Ortiz.
LeRoy was always so happy to see them all.
Survived by his sisters Dr. Flora Ida Ortiz, Della Goltman (Bill); brother Wilford (Rosina) preceded in death his parents Leopoldo and Elisa Ortiz and sister, Frances, brother Henry and wife, Ines; his beloved grandmother Rosarito Romero and his in-laws Atanacio O. Martinez and Eva Martinez from Chimayo.
Erlinda Martinez a friend of the Ortiz's was always there to check on him.
LeRoy was born in Terreros, New Mexico June 21, 1935 attended McCurdy School and joined the United States Marines 1953 to 1959 and stationed in Korea and Japan.
The family wishes to thank the Espanola Prespetrican hospital staff for the wonderful care given to LeRoy and Hospices and Father Javier and Father John from the Santa Cruz Catholic Church for being there at the time LeRoy needed them, also thanks to all the neighbors and friends for all the visits, donations of any kind, truly we are appreciative.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, 11:30 AM at Rivera Family Funeral Home & Crematory followed by burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors at 1:30PM.
