Lino Garcia

1933 — January 24, 2021

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lino E. Garcia, 88 on January 24, 2021. Lino is preceded in death by his parents Eloy and Emelina Garcia; mother and father in-law Cliofes and Martina Herrera;  siblings Gasper Garcia, Norbert Garcia, Marcelina Vest, and Florence Rael; son James A Garcia; son-in-law James Chang; and brother-in-law Nilo Duran.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Viola H. Garcia, children Brandi Garcia-Chang, Carol Ortega, Lino Garcia and Sandra Garcia-Aline; grandchildren Adam (wife Sonya) Garcia, Christopher (wife Melissa) Garcia, Jessica Garcia, Derek (wife Suzanna) Ortega, Chanel (husband John) Clark,  Ryan Garcia, Santana (husband Kiko) Rael, Mariah Garcia, and Joseph Aline; 13 great grand-children and many nephews, nieces, god-children, cousins; his loving brother and sister in laws and friends. In addition, he is survived by his sister Lorraine Duran, brothers Conrad (wife Emilia) Garcia and Gilbert (wife Lorraine) Garcia; sister-in-law Emerlinda Garcia, brother-in-law Deacon Felimon Rael, and aunts Eulalia Garcia and Berlinda Trujillo.

Lino loved his family dearly and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a life member of Questa VFW Post 7688. Lino worked for the State of New Mexico Printing Office and left the state government to open his own printing business. Yucca Speedway Printing was a successful business serving Santa Fe and surrounding areas. Lino also, shared a great love of the outdoors as a Rancher raising cattle, riding horses, and fly fishing with family and friends. He loved being a cowboy and spending his free time with friends and relatives roping and herding cattle. Upon retirement, Lino and his wife Viola returned to his hometown of Questa, NM. As a devoted member of St Anthony Catholic Church, Lino volunteered his service and equipment (tractor) to assist with the church restoration project and he enjoyed working and socializing with his friends and family on site.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb 5, 2021, at St Anthony Catholic Church in Questa, NM. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am followed by a Mass at 11:00 am

In consideration of COVID-19 restrictions, burial commemoration will be held as a private ceremony at the National Cemetery.

The Family greatly thanks Father Andrew, for all his support and service during Lino’s lifetime and during our time of celebration in Honor of our Father Lino E Garcia.
