Lloyd L Cole was called to be with our Lord on October 11, 2023. He passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Born on October 30, 1935, in Mount Sterling, Iowa, Lloyd was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man of extraordinary character, known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones.

Lloyd was a loving husband to his wife, Sarah, for an incredible 70 years. Theirs was a love story for the ages, a testament to the enduring power of commitment and devotion. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them, and they weathered life's joys and challenges hand in hand, growing closer with each passing year.

Lloyd was also a devoted father to Randy, Kim, Linda, Shirley, Lloyd II, Don and Mark. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His guidance, wisdom, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of his family members.

At the age of 17, Lloyd embarked on a remarkable journey by enlisting in the United States Air Force. Displaying a deep sense of patriotism and a loyal commitment to his country, he dedicated his early years to serving in the armed forces. Lloyd’s service in the US Air Force was marked by dedication, bravery, and a strong sense of duty. Over the course of his 21-year military career, he rose to the notable rank of Master Sergeant. His leadership and dedication inspired his fellow service members and earned him the respect and admiration of all who served alongside him. During his time in the Air Force, Lloyd had the distinct honor of serving as a dedicated driver for two U.S. Presidents, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He courageously served his nation during the Vietnam War, where his steadfast commitment and acts of heroism showcased his extraordinary character.

After his retirement from the Air Force, Lloyd transitioned to civilian life, taking on the role of a heavy equipment operator in Los Alamos, NM. Through hard work and determination, he eventually retired as a Foreman Supervisor.

After retiring, Lloyd and his beloved wife enjoyed traveling in their RV. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Family was important to him, and he cherished the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, creating treasured memories for his family.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his by his father, Roy Cole and his mother, Sylvia (Boyd) Cole; Sister, Arlene; Brothers, Harold, Virgil, Roy Jr., and Ralph; Grandchildren, Christopher Sena and Leanne Cole; Daughter-in-law, Suzanne Cole.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Cole; Children, Randy (Elena), Kim (Jim), Linda (Ron), Shirley (George), Lloyd II, Don (Madalene), Mark (Crystal); 20 Grandchildren; 37 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; Siblings, Lavene (Linda), Richard (Pamela), Vickie (Steve); Sister-in-law, Josie (Eddie); Numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd may have left this world, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Pallbearers: Lee Cole, Lloyd Cole III., Vicente Rodriguez, Arsenio Cole, Luis Bustos III., and Lee Andrew Cole.

Honorary Pallbearers: All grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The Rosary will be held on October 31, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. followed by Prayer Services at 11:00 a.m. at Rivera Family Funeral Home located at 417 East Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505. After the services, Lloyd will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. located at 501 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe, NM.
