Lorraine Marie Renta Rosa passed away on October 22, 2024 after a brief but courageous and aggressive battle with cancer. She was surrounded with the love and support of her family and friends.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Mark Rodarte; their daughters, Lauren Rodarte Renta and Madeleine Rodarte Renta; her parents, María and Luis Renta; her brother, Luis A. Renta (Giannina Coppola); her parents-in law, Isabel and Arthur Rodarte; siblings-in-law, Melody Rodarte-Martinez (Mark Martinez) and Crystal Rodarte-Romero (Lee Romero); and nieces and nephews, Marcelo Renta, Gianna Renta, Josh Martinez and Sarah Martinez.
Lorraine was born on May 4, 1983 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico to María and Luis. Lorraine grew up in Guaynabo with her younger brother Louie and their loving parents. She graduated high school from the American Military Academy and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. She then went on to attain a second master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Engineering Analysis and Policy from the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies.
After university, Lorraine pursued a career in what she referred to as “making the world a better place”. She joined Guidehouse Consulting (previously Navigant Consulting) focusing on evaluation of energy efficiency programs for electric and gas utilities. In her career, she was a gifted project manager who led large teams of engineers, data scientists and social scientists on programs for large metro utility companies across the United States. She was an impactful leader and was equally valued for her technical prowess, methodical organization, respectful assertiveness and friendly personality.
As she was in her academic and professional life, so was she in her personal life. She had a unique perspective on life that allowed her to always appreciate the present while simultaneously maintaining a watchful eye towards the future. She was an eternal planner and always did her best to ensure her loved ones were well-cared for and equipped for success in everything from baking cookies from the Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook to organizing complex family trips to Disney World.
Lorraine was the type of person who could truly light up a room with her presence and make people feel at ease through her laid-back demeanor and natural confidence. She was also resilient and would advocate for her family relentlessly. She loved her family and wanted the best in life for her girls. Lorraine was everything imaginable as a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and colleague. Those who knew her both loved and admired her; she had a bright personality coupled with a strong sense of self that truly resonated with people. As a child, she was loved unconditionally and encouraged to pursue her dreams; as an adult, she provided the love and encouragement and was so much to so many people, but particularly her family and friends.
