Lorraine Vigil, 92, was called to her eternal home with our Lord Jesus on February 10, 2021. A lifelong resident of Pecos New Mexico Lorraine passed away at her home in Pecos surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 27, 1928 at the Tererro New Mexico hospital the daughter of Miguel and Eriselda Varela.
She married her husband Andres (Andy) Vigil on June 07, 1948.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Andres, her parents, step father Filemon Gonzales, daughter Joann Vigil Encinias, infant sons Desiderio and Adam Vigil, Sister Maria Hernandez, and brother’s Adan, Rafael and Lucas Varela. Brother in laws, Ben Hernandez, Ramon Vigil, Carl Cannon, & Julian Lujan, Sister in laws, Louise Vigil, Cecilia Lujan, & Natalia Herrera.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Dolores Vigil Baca, and Geraldine Vigil. Grandchildren Linda Sena, Frank Baca, Orlando Vigil/Kathleen, Andrea/Alex Cortez. Great grandchildren, Miranda, Jacob, Kurt, Annyssa, Santiano, Alizianna, Kyrie and Zacdrian. Great great grandchildren Madison & Aleah. Brother Mike/Frances Varela. Sister-in-law Eleuteria (Teddie) Cannon.
Special friends, whom Lorraine considered family, Tommy Lujan, Tommy Baca, David/Zoe Old, Rhonda Romero, Mela & Julie.
Family members that kept in close contact and were near and dear to her heart, her sister Maria (Ben) children. Orlando (Mary), Benny/Yvonne, Mike/Penney. Nieces Evelyn/Aniceto, Christine/George, & Priscilla. Her brother Adan son, Adam. Her brother-in-law Ramon/Louise daughters, Rosalie, Mary Helen, Irene, Lucille, & Emily/Victor. Her sister-in-law Natalia’s children, Isidro (Viola), Lydia/Mel and Flora.
Her loving and caring friends, Marie, Mida, Stephanie, Pam, Frances & Sadie.
She will be missed by her beloved dog Taco.
Those who knew her, loved her sweet and loving demeanor, often times friends and family would reach out to her for prayers. She was the matriarch of our family, we were blessed with a loving, nurturing and strong women who sacrificed for her family and believed Jesus and family were first she will be greatly missed.
Lorraine lived her life with faith, hope and Love, the greatest of these is Love, she loved and was loved.
Lorraine was a devoted Christian, a prayer of her own; Father please make me a light for my community of Pecos. Let me shine forth with your goodness, care and Love. Let all who look to me see your grace. Help me show the saving light of Christ that you have lovingly given me. Hear my prayer Lord of my life.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions only immediate family may attend the service and interment at Rivera’s Family Funeral Home, Pastor Michael Herrera officiating.
Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers, Frank, Orlando, Alex, Jacob, Adam & Frank Gonzales.
A celebration of her life will take place at a later date at the family ranch at El Macho New Mexico.
