LOUIS R. BACA (Louie), 83, a resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side following a brief illness on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Lena Baca, brothers Rudy (Dolores/nephew Anthony), Michael Baca. Louie is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia F. Baca, daughters Cathy Oman (Dan) of Hillsboro, OR, Lisa Roybal of Santa Fe, sons Danny Baca (Kay) of La Salle, CO, Timothy Baca (Andrea) of El Cajon, CA, and David Baca (Jeannie) of Santa Fe, brother Elias Baca (Sandra) of Santa Fe, brother-in-law Paul A. Gonzales of Chula Vista, CA, and Ramon A. Gonzales, Santa Fe. He also leaves behind his twelve grandchildren; Michael Oman (Jet), Tricia Gharrity (Patrick), Danny Oman (Melissa), Adam Roth, Megan Koeller (Adam), Thomas Lane (Samantha), Brittney Lane, Bernadette Baca, Mateo Rael, Kenneth Roybal, Nicholas Baca, and David Ray Baca and 9 Great Grandchildren. Louie also leaves behind his good friends Retired Justice Patricio Serna and wife Eloise. His special Aunt Olivia Romero and son Eddie. Louie served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a Radar Man, 1st Class during the Korean War. He worked 17 years with Eberline Instruments Company and 19 years with Los Alamos National Laboratory where he was a Electronic Fabrication Team Leader when he retired in 1997. Louie loved spending his free time at the Senior Center where he worked on ceramics and paintings. When he wasn’t in Santa Fe, he loved traveling various parts of the world with his wife and friends. Louie was actively involved with Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church and Cancer Group. He belonged to the American Patriot Service Corp. The Baca family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Cristus St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center, St. Vincent Reginal Medical Center, and Presbyterian Medical Services Hospice during his brief illness. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Church. Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers; Danny Baca, Timothy Baca, David Baca, Michael Oman, Bernadette Baca, and Nicholas Baca. Honorary pallbearers are Ramon Gonzales, Mateo Rael, Adam Roth, Danny Oman, David Ray Baca, and Kenneth Roybal.
