Lucy Valdez

Lucy {Luz} Valdez, age 92 lifetime resident of Cañones, NM, was called home Sunday September 9, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones! She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Manuelita Velasquez, brother Roman Velasquez and sisters Mary Sandoval, Clora Maestas and Fidelia Serrano. Her husband of 57 years Serafin Valdez and son Arturo Valdez, 2 grandsons Walter and Adrian Valdez. She is survived by her children Martin Valdez, Dolores Valdez and Higinia Gallegos and 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and many more loved ones that she so much adored. Lucy, was a devout Catholic and prayed her Rosary daily, she had a great passion for making quilts for anyone that needed one. She will be dearly missed. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, 7pm at San Miguel Catholic Church, Cañones, NM. On Thursday, September 13, 2018 another Rosary will be prayed at 1pm followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 2pm. The burial will be at the Cañones Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers; Eli Maestas, Ernesto Gallegos,Bobby Valdez, Benny Serrano, Lorenzo Salazar and Leroy Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers; Juan Sandoval, Vidal Velasquez, Juan Valdez,Wilfred Vialpando, Roy Martinez, and Robert Velasquez. A special thank you to the Amber Care Hospice staff, and all family and friends that were there for her this last year of her life.
