Luis C. Martinez

Luis C. Martinez, 100, of El Prado passed away on February 27, 2018. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Martinez; son, Raymond G. Martinez; daughter-in-law, Carmen, and grandson, Brian; parents, Leandro and Juanita Martinez; brothers, Pat and Eligio Martinez and sister, Adelina Vigil. He is survived by his children, Luis Jr. (Donna), Francis “Pancho” (Judy), Dolores Trujillo, Billy Vigil and Francina Martinez; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; sister, Connie Archuleta and numerous relatives and friends. Luis was born and raised in Arroyo Seco, NM. He joined the Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. Upon returning from the service, Luis built the family home in El Prado where he and Lydia raised their family. Luis served as a Taos County Commissioner and was a school bus driver and operator of the Gulf gas station off of the Taos Plaza. After retiring he enjoyed working on his garden and volunteering at Our Lady of Guadalupe parish. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 08, 2018 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 09, 2018, at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe church with interment to follow at the Dolores Cemetery.
