Mabel Flores

The family of Mabel (Donelia) Flores, (78), July 12, 1944--June 20, 2023, announce the passing of our beautiful Mabel from this world to eternal paradise. 

She was born to Genaro and Margarita Benavidez and was a lifelong resident of San Juan, NM and a lifelong member of San Miguel del Vado Parish.   Mabel married Julian Flores on August 7, 1963.  Mabel is survived by her three children:  Julia (Ken), Eliseo (Rachel), Michael. Grandchildren: Estrella (Nick), Esperanza (Clorinda), Julian, Estevan, Andres (Alex), Ricco.  Great-grandchildren-Kylie, Isaiah, Noah, Christian, Ezra, Bodhi. She is survived by her siblings-Cecilia (Jimmy), Carolina, Jerry (Linda), Ramon (Amanda), Roland (Marcella) and her in-laws-Felipe (Betty), Ciria (Gilbert), Fernando (Alice) and Goddaughter Theresa Padilla. She is also survived by her amazing 'second family’, the family of Filimon Vigil.  

Our precious Mabel will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit, spunky ways, spiritual strength, and her genuineness no matter who she met. She graced us with many years of laughter, joy and lessons about living life with faith in God's plan for each of us. She was an example of how we should live; to be in the moment, not to stress and to know that this world is but a temporary stay. She was a loving woman who was there for everyone. We will never forget her contagious laughter, smile, jokes and adventurous spirit.  

Mabel retired from Glorieta Conference Center after many years of service.  She enjoyed going to church, casino, fishing, coloring, dancing, playing cards, reading, gardening and spending time with family.

She was predeceased by her parents Genaro and Margarita Benavidez, husband of 44  years, Julian, her companion of 10 years, Filimon Vigil, sisters: Pricilla Benavidez and Ernestine Martinez, brother in laws- Deacon Juan Martinez, Solomon Lopez, Domingo Ortiz, in laws Narciso and Isabel Flores,  Lucille and Mingo Alarcon, Alfonso Flores, Carmen Garcia, Eliseo Flores, Nestor Flores, Goddaughter Kathy Ortiz.  

Service will be held on Wednesday, June 28th at San Miguel Catholic Church in San Miguel, NM.  Rosary will be recited at 9 am and Mass will begin at 10 am, followed by Christian burial in San Juan NM.  Arrangements are entrusted to and under the direction of Rivera Funeral Home.  Serving as pallbearers-Julian, Estevan, Andres Flores, Isaiah Tafoya, Dale Vigil, Antonio Martinez, Henry Flores. Honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
