Magdalena “Maggie” Cleofes Imelda (Dominguez) Arvizo, age 80, was called home on September 12, 2024 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by family. Born on May 29, 1944 to the late Jose and Magdalena (Pacheco) Dominguez in Espanola, New Mexico, she was the second eldest child of eight.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Magdalena Dominguez; daughter, June Arvizo; brothers, Roy Dominguez, Paul Dominguez, Joe Dominguez and Thomas Dominguez; and sister Frances Sandoval.
At a young age, Maggie and her family left Espanola and relocated to Los Angeles. She graduated from Manual Arts Sr. High School and focused to become an electrical technician gaining an opportunity to work for Hughes Aircraft. Later in life the decision to move back to NM seemed right and settled in Santa Fe. She pursued her career as an electrical tech and eventually retired from Amtech Solutions. Maggie was a devoted mother and had an affection for cooking and gardening. She was a hard worker and caring friend who enjoyed traveling and appreciated time spent with family and friends. Maggie had justification to shed tears, be angry, or even fall into depression after her diagnosis; nonetheless, she loved and lived every moment she was given and never let cancer rob her of who she was. Always graceful, until God called her home. Her departure leaves an enormous void and she will be greatly missed. It was a great honor to have her in our lives and we will always carry her memory in our hearts.
Maggie is survived by her daughter, Monica Arvizo; god-daughter Evelyn Villegas; sisters, Hortencia Sosa, Theresa Dominguez and sister in-law’s Julia Dominguez (Paul) and Maria Dominguez (Joe); niece, Cynthia Osborne (son, Micheal Sandoval) and many extended family members and friends.
The family thanks the wonderful hospice caregiver and nurses from Compassus for their services. And thank you to Christus St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center doctors, nurses and staff for their kindness, hard work and excellent services.
