In Loving Memory of Manuelita Lucille "Lita" Salazar

Manuelita Lucille "Lita" Salazar passed away on April 1, 2024, in Chimayo, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on October 29, 1969, in Roswell, Lita spent her final weeks battling liver cirrhosis, but her spirit remained unbroken until the very end.

Lita was known for her strength, resilience, and humor. She faced a life full of adversity with a brave spirit and a contagious laughter that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering positivity and determination inspired those around her to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles. Lita spent many years of her life unsheltered, selflessly helping others who were hurting find solidarity in their struggle. Her sense of humor and infectious smile brought light into the lives of all those around her.

During her final weeks, Lita was surrounded by countless friends who came to care for her, a testament to the impact she had on everyone she met. Her legacy of compassion and empathy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Lita was preceded in death by her beloved niece Carmela Moreno of Española, cousin Cynthia Apodaca of Denver, sister Reynaluz Juaáez of Albuquerque, sons Lawrence and Dominic Salazar of Albuquerque, and the love of her life, Jon Alonzo of Laguna Pueblo. Although they have left this world, their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

Lita is survived by her mother Teresa Juárez, father Daniel Schreck, brother Andrez Juárez, sisters Ramona Vigil, and Loretta Mendoza, daughter Valentina Salazar, sons Gabriel Silva and Jonathan Juárez, and sons-in-law Raife Juárez and Mario Puentes. Lita also leaves behind her grandchildren Selene and Gage Alford of Raton, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins across the Southwest.

Goodbye, dear Lita. May you rest in power, knowing that you were cherished and loved beyond measure. Your memory will forever be a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness.
