Our father, Manuel Rudy Pacheco passed away on June 23, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Angelica M. Pacheco, children, Stephanie, Marguerite, Manuel, Pat and Juan, daughters in-law, Leticia, Natalie and Rosemary, grandchildren, Patrick, Katarina, Manuel, Angelica, Nicolette, Danielle, Jacob, and Annalise, two sisters, Pauline Anaya and Celine Sanchez.
His mother Refugio Ortiz Pacheco was from one of the founding families of Santa Fe. He is the son of Manuel Pacheco of Santa Fe who fought for the title of lightweight champion of the world in boxing. Following in his fathers footsteps, Rudy was an accomplished athlete lettering in five sports at the college level with his favorites being football and track. As an educator he started with coaching and teaching and moved on to become a school administrator. He ended his career in a love he had since his childhood, as a rancher.
Rudy loved people and made many friends in education and public service. A few of the roles he served in were: Chairman of the Republican Party, Taos County Commissioner and Presidential Appointment to the National Public Lands Council and Chairman of People for the West. He served as an educational ambassador to El Salvador through UNM. He served in multiple capacities as a water authority.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph Louie and Robert Pacheco.
Rosary and mass were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish on Friday, June 27th and June 28th, 2014 respectively. He will be greatly missed by his children.
