Manuel D. Sanchez, 67, of Questa passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2013. He is preceded in death by parents, Dan and Amada Sanchez. He is survived by his sons, Daniel Sanchez (Roberta), Paul Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez (Stephanie), grandchildren, Marissa, Veronica, Daniel Jr., Lucious, Santino and Lola, brother, Art Sanchez, sister, Novella Herrera (Gabe), the mother of his children, Theresa Sanchez and many other relatives and friends.
Manuel was raised in Cerro, and following college, returned and lived his remaining years in Questa. A graduate of New Mexico Tech and New Mexico State University, Manuel held degrees in Mining Engineering and Civil Engineering respectively. He worked for a few years at the Moly Mine in Questa and subsequently owned and operated a small business in Questa. Manuel's true passion was cattle ranching as it occupied a large part of his time. He raised his sons with a strong work ethic and provided them with countless skills and life lessons. Manuel forged strong friendships throughout many of New Mexico's communities and enjoyed catching up with old friends. He will truly be missed, as his mark on this world was far reaching and long lasting.
Rosary was recited on May 24, 2013 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on May 25, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Interment followed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Cerro.
Pallbearers are Gabe Herrera, Andamo Sanchez, Moises Sanchez, James Trujillo, Kenneth Velasquez, and Armando Vigil Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Ben Sanchez and Gary Sanchez.
