Marcela J. Roybal
March 31, 1943 – March 14, 2025
Marcela was born March 31, 1943, and died peacefully at the age of 81 (on what would have been her late husband’s birthday) Friday March 14, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.
Those who knew Marcela knew her to be a loving wife, mom and grandma who had strong faith and a deep love for her family. She was a great cook making her family’s favorite dishes throughout the years, especially during Christmas when she would make her incredible tamales and delicious empanaditas. A tradition she passed down to her children and now her granddaughters.
Marcela married Tiburcio Roybal on September 2, 1967, in Las Vegas, NM. They started their family and raised their four children in Pecos, NM where she lived until our Lord called her home. While her husband worked outside the home, they decided she would manage the household, raising her children and many grandchildren at home, creating many unforgettable memories.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, her mother Inez Jaramillo, brothers Ricky, Robert, Johnny and Van Jaramillo. Sister Tillie Jaramillo and a very special aunt (who was like her sister) Margaret Roybal. Her father and mother-in-law Jose Maria and Carmelita Roybal; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clemente Roybal; Jessie Roybal; Bobby & Frances Valencia; David & Lucy Yrene; Vivian Lujan and Delfina Roybal.
Marcela will be forever loved by those she is leaving behind, her children, Anna Vigil & husband Manuel of Pecos; Jerrold Roybal & wife Claudette of Pecos; Cathy Martinez & husband Tommy of Albuquerque and Danny Roybal & wife Cecilia of Pecos. She has 12 grandchildren, Jason Martinez (Alicia); Justin Martinez (Devine); Jeremy Martinez (Brianna); Jerrold Roybal-Chavez (Drew); Thomas Martinez (Delia); Jonathan Martinez (Edgar); Troy Martinez (Brianna); Janaha Vigil (Dru); Anali Roybal; Jazzlynn Roybal; Jerrica Roybal and Tillie Roybal. Seven great grandchildren, Krislynn, Hazel, Christopher, Hailey, Jesiah, Sebastian and Antonio. Special nephew Ricky Gonzales along with many brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecilia Sandoval; Ulla Jaramillo; Florinda Lujan; Julian & Florinda Roybal; Jesus & Viola Vigil; Joe Mary Roybal Jr. and Horacio & Gloria Valencia. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank her nurse and friend Nguyet and most recently the staff of Enchanted Sky Hospice who were instrumental in our mom’s care. Thank you to Fr. DJ Segura, Fr. Benny Sebastian and Deacon Eloy Gallegos, for tending to our family’s spiritual needs during this difficult time.
