She is survived by three brothers Ernest Montoya(Anita), Gilbert Montoya(Pat Manaster) and Anthony Montoya(Diane), three sisters Cecilia Barrone(Dan), Victoria Romero(Manuel) and Rosina Romero(Pat), three sons, Isaac(Kristina), Edward(Deanna) and Phillip. She had twelve grandchildren Jason and Alicia Romero(Marcus Villarose) Erin Romero(Marty Valdez), Nic, Robin, Eric(all Romero), Charlotte Romero(Christian Rodriguez and daughters Lily and Emma), Darrell and Billy(Ross), Celina, Esai and Nico(Valdez). Marcella and Isaac were blessed with twelve great grandchildren Charles Lucero , Mark and Lucas Villarose, Brooklyn Romero, Egypt Romero Renfroe, Theodore Romero-Elliott, Kelly, Jason Jr and Diesel Romero, Mikayla and Sophia Ross, Azariah Valdez. The addition Christian Rodriguez and his daughters Lilly and Emma to Charlotte’s household will add to our extended family soon.
Marcella was married at 19 and spent the next 20+ years filling in the many roles needed by her sons, tutoring, rides to sports practices, Cub Scouts, fishing, meetings with teachers and sometimes principals as her and Isaac provided them the avenue to find their way. She loved reading, her quilting/craft group, walks with Charlotte Roybal our neighbor the Movie club that started during her last year. The house was always full with cousins, neighbors, and friends of the boys some who stayed for extended periods because they were always welcome.
The grandchildren brought sleepovers, weekends at the cabin or a hotel with a swimming pool, and of course a lot of back scratching and most importantly her undivided attention. The family is grateful that these meaningful activities continued with the great children.
The family would like to thank her caregivers Ramona Hernandez, Ines Carrillo, Patsy Baines and grandchildren Alicia and Charlotte. Thank you, Eric Pena, Grace Gutierrez and Corine Lovato, for your friendship and support prior to, and during this difficult time. We are forever grateful to our Aunt Adeline for taking an active role providing a consistent calming presence, compassion, counseling, support, and lots of food as she jumped in and guided us through the loss of our parents. Thanks to Kristen Martinez and Del Corazon staff who were thoughtful and caring during the hospice journey.
A Rosary is scheduled for 10am Wednesday November 15th at The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Funeral Mass following at 11am and a Christian burial afterward at Rosario Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with Isaac.
