Margaret L. Pacheco

Margarita Lucia Pacheco born in Taos, NM in 1937, passed away February 22, 2016 after courageously battling multiple health issues over the years. Margaret was born at her family home in Lower Ranchitos and passed away on the same land. Margaret loved Taos and displayed an incredible memory for oral history and family genealogy. She began her working career at the Taos News and later worked at the University of California San Diego, and the State of New Mexico. Margaret enjoyed her many years of retirement in Taos despite her many health challenges. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Jose Cipriano Pacheco and Aurora Alarid Pacheco and her siblings Lydia, Emma, Antonio and Lucario. She is survived by daughter Ana and her husband Kevin McCourt. She is also survived by her niece Cindy (Jay) and many dear friends including Bobby and Patsy Valdez and her comadre Lydia Garcia. Margaret’s family would like to thank Mountain Home Health Hospice for their health care. We are also grateful to her caregivers, especially Barbara Hammer Martinez, Hope Torres and Michelle Trujillo and to special friends Nora Lujan, her son Johnny Ray, and Janet Gauthier.
