Margaret R. Trujillo, 96, a long-time resident of Los Ojos, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, July 15, 2022, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on February 8, 1926, in Chama, New Mexico to Bernardita Sanchez and Jose Florentino Medina. She married Fernando Trujillo on November 5, 1945 in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico.

Also preceding her in death was her uncle Juan Sanchez (Lita) and her aunt (Imelda Martinez (Victor).

You will forever be in our hearts.

After graduating from high school, Margaret worked for a short time at the Sawmill in Chama. She then worked at the County Court House in Tierra Amarilla. After some years there, she moved to the Rio Arriba County Health Department in Los Ojos. This is where she met many people from Canjilon, Cebolla, Chama, La Puente, Ensenada, Plaza Blanca, Los Brazos and other surrounding small communities. She had fond memories of her time there and the people she worked with. After many years at the Health Department, she went back to the County Court House for a brief period of time. By then, Fernando had retired and she decided to stay home as well. They enjoyed spending time together especially those frequent trips to the casinos.

Margaret enjoyed traveling and got the opportunity to travel twice to Europe. The highlight of one of those trips was attending Mass at St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican in Rome. Other fun trips included many visits to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. She just needed an invitation and she was packed and ready to go.

One of Margaret’s joys in her later years was being a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority that included several of her closest friends. There was never a dull moment when the members got together, and she looked forward to those gatherings. Margaret was a life-long member of the Catholic Church and taught Catechism at San Jose Parish in Los Ojos for a few years. She and Fernando served as Mayordomos at San Jose as well. For many years she looked forward to the Santiago Fiestas in July.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Ambercare for taking care of mom for the last year. Thank you, Dena, Gloria, Gracie, Emily, Erica, Janice, Nancy, Daniel y gracias Julian.
