Marguerite Lopez

March 14, 1930 — January 12, 2018

Marguerite Gladys Lopez went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2018. Margo was born in Taos, New Mexico on March 14, 1930 to the late Baldwin and Gladys Burt. She attended Loretto Academy and graduated from there in 1949. She married John T. Lopez and they were married for 50 years until his death in 1999. Faith, family and friends were Margo’s passion. She was a parishioner of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church and was a past member of the Alter Society. She cherished all of her Catholic community friendships. Margo was a mom and grandmother extraordinaire. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her sons and grandchildren. She had such a sense of fun and was always ready for an adventure with her sons and grandchildren - whether it be riding an innertube at El Vado Lake, playing frisbee in the middle of Lujan Street, playing beach volleyball at Pismo Beach and always cheering for her kids at their sporting events. Margo had a great sense of humor, was quick to laugh and always had a joke or a kind word. She didn’t know a stranger. Heaven has received a new angel. Margo leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her sons, Bob (Cathy), John (Lynn) and Vince (Stephanie); by her grandchildren Amanda (Dave), Danielle (Leon) and Matt; and by her great grandchildren Leo, Ella and David Arthur. She is also survived by her step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, Esperanza, Sierra, Miranda and Estevan. She also leaves behind her beloved Burt and Lopez family members, and many cherished friends and family. Services will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, January 19, 2018. The Rosary will be at 10:00 am and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Arrangements are being handled by Rivera Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 49 Mt. Carmel Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
