Maria Koon

Maria Koon, 79, of Chamisal passed away on November 29, 2017. She was a foster grandma for over 20 years, she was very active in the Senior Citizens Olympics and her church, United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Koon, sons, Ray Koon and Norris Abeyta. She is survived by her children, Amy Koon, Sharon Koon, Brenda Reyes (Isidro), Dale Koon, Dwayne Koon (Emily), Janice Gonzales, Evelyn Vasquez and Peggy Romero, many grandchildren, sister, Esmeralda Montoya (Casey), many other relatives and friends. Evening service were held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 3 PM at Rivera Chapel in Taos. Funeral service were held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at noon at the Velarde United Methodist Church with interment to follow at the Chamisal Cemetery.
