Maria Leocadia Garcia

Maria Leocadia Garcia, aged 94 died peacefully on October 13, 2014 at her home in El Prado, Taos, New Mexico, surrounded by her family. Leocadia was born on Nov 1919. She was the daughter of Antonio and Maria Bacilia Sanchez, from Arroyo Seco, Taos, NM. Maria grew up in Arroyo Seco, where her fondest memories of lifewere on the family farm with her loving parents and hermany siblings. Her love of God and family was nurtured by her father and mother. She was a life- long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a loving and devoted wifeto Eliseo B Garcia for 67 years. She also dedicated her life to raising her 4 children, Carlos , Leroy, Nellie and Merlinda, who are eternally grateful to have her as their Mom. She instilled a love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in her children, and the importance of respect, good manners and service to others. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eliseo, 3 grandchildren, Bobby, Russ, Alicia and her son-in-law Roger. She is survived by her sister,Cordilia Casias, her children, Carlos and Tita Garcia, Leroy and Robbie Garcia, Nellie Sorensen, and Merlinda and Robert Anaya. In addition she is survived by 24 beloved grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and many devoted nieces and nephews. Services were held on October 15, 2014 at Rivera Funeral Home with interment following at the Miera Family Cemetery.
