Maria Rosa Rose M. Martinez

Maria Rosa “Rose” Montoya Martinez, 95, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2016 in her home surrounded by 3 generations of family. Rose was born in Taos in 1920. Upon hers husband passing, she raised 4 children with the help of her extended family. Through the years she worked for Dr. Reynaldo DeVeaux, Skeezik Rodriguez (Rexall Drugs), Cecilia (Bookstore). Rose and her sons, Reuben owned the Fernandez de Taos Bookstore until she retired in 2006 at the age of 85. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernabe J. Martinez, her son, Reuben Martinez, mother, Emelia Montoya, sisters, Eulalia Leach, Inez Ortega and Martina Montoya. She is survived by her sister, Theresa Weston, cousin, Eva Cortez, children, Lorenzo B. Martinez, Miguel Martinez (Rita), Sylvia Grycner (Greg), Connie Martinez, 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, Patricia Ninneman, Lorraine Romero and Dora Martinez. Rosary was recited May 03, 2016. Funeral Mass was held on May 04, 2016. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
