Marie Sirmans

February 11, 1936 — August 9, 2017

Marie Jessie Sirmans, 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her home in Taos, New Mexico on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. She previously lived in Arizona, Oregon, Washington, New York, Florida and Haiti. From her birth in February of 1936 to her death, she was a deeply caring and loving mother, grandmother, cousin and friend to everyone who crossed her path. She was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and was the youngest of two children. In August of 1958 she married the late William R. Sirmans and together they had five children. Marie was a serial entrepreneur who, until her retirement, started and owned several domestic and international businesses. She loved to spend time with family and friends, paint, draw, and travel the world. Marie is survived by her children Michelle (Frank) Reynolds, Nancy (Bob) Tripi, Deb (Jack Garland) Sirmans, Sherry Brown, Bob Sirmans, and Barbara (Ronnie Wayne) McQueary, grandchildren Melissa (Hunter) McElfish, Allison Tripi, Sean (Nichole) Tripi, Kerrianne Tripi, Erich Brown, Leighann Reynolds, Sarah Tripi, Alex Brown, Ian Brown, Larry McClung, Christina Birmingham, and great-grandchildren Shalyn McClung and Sophia Chinchay-Birmingham. The family would like to thank Marie’s caregivers Pauline Geoffrey, Patsy Rivera, Grace Boelger, Michelle Trujillo, and Valerie Chavez for their attentiveness and loving care. A mass was held on August 11, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos and the family is planning a remembrance service to take place in Phoenix in September. We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
