Former Alamosa resident, Marion Leo Sanchez, 73, passed away July 8, 2013 at his home in New Mexico surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born on November 16, 1939 in Las Animas, Colorado, the son of Leo Sanchez and Jennie Gallegos Sanchez. He was enlisted and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Foreign Legion in Denver. Leo enjoyed fixing cars, fishing, bartending and the time he spent with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Leo Sanchez and half-brother, Johnny Gallegos. He is survived by his sons, Gary and Sean Sanchez of Denver, CO, sisters, Nellie Maes of Questa, NM, Rose Davy (Albert), brother, Auggie Sanchez (Martha) of Thornton, CO, nephews, Tony Martinez of Questa, Colton Medina (Margie) who also served as caretakers, along with their son, Colton, Jr., nieces, Michelle and Savannah Martinez and other numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service was held on July 20, 2013 at The Living Word Ministries in Questa. Interment followed at the El Pueblito Cemetery.
